MASKS

  • All staff and students will be expected to wear masks all day. (with the exception of eating)

  • Students are required to wear a face covering to school everyday. They should be new or cleaned on a daily basis to remove any germs or bacteria from the previous day.

  • If a child arrives without a face covering the school will provide one for them.

  • If they refuse they will be placed in remote learning as not to jeopardize the health of any other person in the school building

What Types of Face Coverings Are Not Permitted on DOE Property?

  • Bandanas and neck gaiters are not permitted.

  • Face coverings with an exhalation valve or vent are not permitted as exhalation valves allow unfiltered exhaled air to escape to others.

  • Face coverings that completely cover or hide an individual’s face, such as ski masks, are not permitted.

  • Unless otherwise approved by school administration, clear face shields cannot be worn unless accompanied by a face covering.

  • Temperature checks will be random and will be conducted by school aides and other staff upon students’ arrival to building

  • We ask that all parents take their child’s temperature every day before sending them into the building and to please keep them home if they have a temperature.

  • Daily Health Screenings will be conducted before students enter the building (awaiting further guidance)

  • Class sizes (which includes educators) are based on the square footage of the classrooms.

  • No air circulating systems in our building – It is more than 90 years old

  • All windows kept open

  • New air filters installed which are more efficient

  • Exhaust pulls air out in all classrooms

bathroom usage

  • Bathrooms will be cleaned every hour by the custodial staff

  • (School aides will monitor hallway and bathroom areas regularly to ensure students are socially distant when traveling thought the school)

  • There will be 10-15 minutes blocks throughout the day where bathrooms will be closed for the hourly cleaning.

  • There will be hand sanitizing stations throughout the building in the hallways and outside of the bathrooms.

  • Children are expected to sanitize hands before they enter the bathroom and wash hands at the sink once they finishing using the stall

  • Pre-K classrooms will have bathrooms that will be cleaned by the custodial staff regularly throughout the day

  • Signs for maximum number of students in bathroom will be posted outside of restrooms and students will be taught to line up and wait outside the bathroom if it happens to be too many people in the bathroom.

Q- How are the students being protected in the school?

A-

  • Students are required to wear a mask throughout the day. Parents can also send children with face shields to be worn in addition to the face masks

  • Students will remain in classrooms throughout the day. (Teachers will do the traveling from room to room and wear required PPE)

  • It is expected that everyone sanitizes upon entering any room and leaving any room

  • Students are required to wash hands regularly and follow social distancing protocols taught the first few days of school

  • There will be signage throughout the building to support building movement

  • Central DOE will be providing one mask per student, per day, as well as, hand washing and sanitizing supplies for the school

  • The school building will be deep cleaned at the end of each day. The school is supplied with an electrostatic cleaner for disinfecting every evening

  • Bathrooms will be cleaned hourly

  • High touch surfaces (door handles, railings, light switches, drinking fountains, restroom fixtures, etc. ) will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.

  • Isolation Room for students who show symptoms of Covid-19  until parents come to pick up child

Student shows symptoms of COVID-19 while at School:

  • Students showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be escorted to the Isolation Room by a designated staff member wearing appropriate PPE.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • Fever of 100.0°F or higher or chills

  • Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat, congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • The area where the student was showing symptoms must be immediately cleaned and disinfected.

  • The nurse or health professional, wearing appropriate PPE, will evaluate the student in the Isolation Room for symptoms of COVID-19.  If no nurse or health professional is available, the student will wait in the supervised Isolation Room until picked up.

  • A family member or guardian will be contacted by a staff member and asked to pick up the student.

  • Upon pick up, the nurse/health professional and school staff will strongly advise the family to visit a doctor and get the student tested for COVID-19, and provide the information of the closest testing site, if asked.
